The more extensive the information, the better equipped users are to make an informed decision. The most common business subjects included economics, psychology, management, law, finance, marketing, and social sciences.Д®ach individual entry listing for an electronic resource includes descriptive information to help users determine whether it is the resource to meet their needs. While some of the library sites in this analysis covered more than business-related areas, only subjects broadly related to business were analyzed. Others of note included electronic books, statistical sources, biographical sources, dictionaries and thesauri, directories, encyclopedias, government, market research, reference sources, research guides, search engines, and working papers. While ideally it is the decision of the library staff to determine the level of specification in their classification system, articles, journals, and newspaper articles were the most common resource type categorizations. Only one site, MIT, allowed users to search for databases by provider.ДЄ variety of resource types were used to categorize electronic resources. Interestingly, fewer than half of the sites evaluated included the ability to search the databases by keyword. The other most common approaches included organization by resource type (e.g., books versus journals) and by subject.

All sites included the alphabetical A through Z listing of resources. The categorization schemes for the databases were quite similar for each site.

These databases, often called вЂњElectronic Resources,вЂќ allow people to search library catalogs, journal articles, corporate financial data, and a wide variety of other data from an extremely diverse group of information providers, each with unique searching interfaces.
